Your Kids: Making Learning Fun Again

Everybody wants their young ones to be brought up with a good education in order to set them up with not only a great working life, but to give them a solid apprehension of the world . But there appears to be this everlasting conflict of taking your minors away from their toys or the television in order to force them to get on with their homework. In schoolhouses it would seem that the playfulness is taken out of learning, so it’s not really a shock that youngsters are bored. There is an alternative to this problem though. Rather than this false dichotomy of learning and having fun, it’s better to fuse the two up and make studying enjoyable again.

Children study a lot more when they either realize a pragmatic function as to why they’re studying a particular lesson, OR if studying is simply enjoyable.

For instance: ask the kids to imagine a birthday cake, and 5 friends. How much cake should each friend get? Ask them to draw the cake, and cut out a slice for each friend. They’re not even aware they’re studying fractions.

These days, it’s now accepted that once you present a subject to a child in an enjoyable way (for example math), children are more likely to become interested in it later on in life. If the alternative is to simply force them to attend a class, have them face a blackboard, and then ask them to listen to the instructor droning on, the chances are you’re encouraging daydreams rather than inculcating interest in the subject.

In terms of toys, what to get the kids? These days there’s a huge range of toys. Always bear in mind that youngsters love to play with practically anything, even an empty box! From traditional toys to party games for children, so long as the focus is on studying and encouraging your children to become inquisitive (which promotes self-learning).
